A motor vehicle accident around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15 left one woman dead and six others injured.
At the intersection of Alt. U.S. 27 and County Road 347, 26-year-old Jesus E. Marino Castillo ran a stop sign while driving a school bus recently turned into a farm vehicle. As he drove southbound, cutting across the four-lane highway, he collided with 45-year-old Donna L. Bishop who had been travelling eastbound in her 2004 Chevy truck.
Donna L. Bishop, her passenger 52-year-old William A. Bishop, and 36-year-old Valantine Flores who had been a passenger of Castillo's bus, were all taken to the hospital in serious condition. Donna L. Bishop was later pronounced dead.
Castillo and the rest of the passengers on the bus, 24-year-old George Punzo, 26-year-old Sergio Cruz, and 23-year-old Aliasar Coxuhua, all received minor injuries.
